Recently, chiral Bronsted bases having high basicity have emerged as a powerful tool in developing new catalytic enantioselective reactions. However, such chiral strong Bronsted base catalysts are still very scarce. Herein, we report the development of a chiral anionic Brensted base having a N,N’-dialkyl ureate moiety as a basic site. Its prominent catalytic activity was demonstrated in the enantioselective addition reactions of alpha-thioacetamides as less acidic pronucleophiles with various electrophiles. Thus, the newly developed chiral catalyst with high accessibility and structural tunability would expand the scope of viable enantioselective transformations under Bronsted base catalysis.

Chitosan microspheres modified by 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde were prepared and used in the construction of a heterogeneous catalyst loaded with nano-Cu prepared by a reduction reaction. The chemical structure of the catalyst was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Under mild conditions, such as no ligand at room temperature, the catalyst was successfully applied to catalyze the borylation of alpha,beta-unsaturated receptors in a water-methanol medium, yielding 17%-100% of the corresponding beta-hydroxy product. Even after repeated use five times, the catalyst still exhibited excellent catalytic activity.

Bi(NO3)(3)center dot 5H(2)O and (NH4)(6)Mo7O24 center dot 4H(2)O were used as precursors to synthesize flaky gamma-Bi2MoO6 samples by a hydrothermal method, and Pt/gamma-Bi2MoO6 samples with different mass fractions were prepared by an NaBH4 reduction method. Alpha alkylation of benzyl alcohol and acetophenone with photocatalysts under visible light irradiation was performed, and the activity of 4 wt % Pt/gamma-Bi2MoO6 (gamma-Bi2MoO6 was prepared by a nitric acid method, pH = 9, and reaction temperature 180 degrees C) was the best. The photocatalytic reaction conditions were optimized by changing various kinds of variables, such as the type of catalyst, solvent, and base, and the amount of base, catalyst, and reactant. The optimal conditions for the organic reaction were 75 mg 4 wt % Pt/gamma-Bi2MoO6, 6 mL n-heptane, 1.2 mmol NaOH, 1 mmol acetophenone, and 3 mmol benzyl alcohol. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the effects of different light wavelengths and light intensities on the reaction were measured, and the cycling ability of the photocatalyst was tested. After five cycles, the photochemical properties of the catalyst were relatively stable. Finally, the active substances were identified (such as electrons (e(-), holes (h(+)), hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH), and superoxide radicals (center dot O-2(-)).

A facile and efficient synthesis of 1H-indazoles and 1H-pyrazoles through a copper-promoted oxidative intramolecular C-H amination of hydrazones using a cleavable directing group was developed. A transition metal free expedient approach for the C=C bond cleavage of electron deficient alkenes such as arylidene Meldrum’s acid and malononitrile derivatives are discussed. The C=C bond of these compound were cleaved to benzoic acid in good yield at high temperature. Most importantly, with oxone in CH3CN/H2O at 45 degrees C or m-CPBA in DCM or NaClO2 in THE/H2O or PIDA in THE at room temperature furnished benzaldehyde derivatives selectively in excellent yields. Copper nanoparticles supported on graphitic carbon nitride (Cu2O NPs@ g-C3N4) make a photoactive catalyst that has been developed for the preparation of ynone, aminoindolizines, and pyrrolo [1, 2-a] quinoline in mild and sustainable conditions. The catalyst is well characterized by various analytical techniques. The reaction can be completed using visible light more smoothly without the requirement of any other external sources of energy. The Cu2O NPs@ gC(3)N(4) material is found to be a more efficient, active, and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of ynone, aminoindolizines, and pyrrolo [1, 2-a] quinoline. Green chemistry metrics such as atom economy (AE) and E-factor are calculated for the reaction, and it is found that the present protocol is more facile and follows the green chemistry principles.

A straightforward access to tricyclic indoles bearing 3,4-fused seven-membered rings has been established by using 4-aminoindoles as 1,4-bisnucleophiles in three-component reactions. 1H-Azepino[4,3,2-cd]indoles, 4,6-dihydro-1H-azepino[4,3,2-cd]indoles and 1,3,4,6-tetrahydro-5H-azepino[4,3,2-cd]indol-5-ones could thus be synthesized in one pot in moderate to good yields. The first total synthesis of a marine natural product, exigurin, has been accomplished in 13 steps starting from (+)-menthone. The key intermediate (-)-10-epi-axisonitrile-3 was prepared by stereoselective intramolecular cyclopropanation followed by a cyclopropane ring opening reaction by the azide anion. The bioinspired Ugi reaction of (-)-10-epi-axisonitrile-3, formaldehyde, sarcosine and methanol successfully constructed the target exigurin in which its terpene and amino acid units were linked through an amide bond.
