Because of their highly tunable nature and exceptional properties, ionic liquids have become essential players in the fields of synthesis and catalysis, extraction, electrochemistry, analytics, biotechnology, etc. Apart from physical and chemical features of ionic liquids, their high biological activity has been attracting significant attention from biochemists, ecologists, and medical scientists. This Review is dedicated to biological activities of ionic liquids, with a special emphasis on their potential employment in pharmaceutics and medicine. The accumulated data on the biological activity of ionic liquids, including their antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties, are discussed in view of possible applications in drug synthesis and drug delivery systems. Dedicated attention is given to a novel active pharmaceutical ingredient-ionic liquid (API-IL) concept, which suggests using traditional drugs in the form of ionic liquid species. The main aim of this Review is to attract a broad audience of chemical, biological, and medical scientists to study advantages of ionic liquid pharmaceutics. Background: Human reproduction is regulated by the combined action of the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and the luteinizing hormone (LH) on the gonads. Although FSH is largely used in female reproduction, in particular in women attending assisted reproductive techniques to stimulate multi-follicular growth, its efficacy in men with idiopathic infertility is not clearly demonstrated. Indeed, whether FSH administration improves fertility in patients with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, the therapeutic benefit in men presenting alterations in sperm production despite normal FSH serum levels is still unclear. In the present review, we evaluate the potential pharmacological benefits of FSH administration in clinical practice. Methods: This is a narrative review, describing the FSH physiological role in spermatogenesis and its potential therapeutic action in men. Results: The FSH role on male fertility is reviewed starting from the physiological control of spermatogenesis, throughout its mechanism of action in Sertoli cells, the genetic regulation of its action on spermatogenesis, until the therapeutic options available to improve sperm production. Conclusion: FSH administration in infertile men has potential benefits, although its action should be considered by evaluating its synergic action with testosterone, and well-controlled, powerful trials are required. Prospective studies and new compounds could be developed in the near future.

Synthesis of new azobenzene dyes clubbed with thiazolidinone moiety and their applications

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to synthesize some new azobenzene dyestuffs clubbed with thiazolidinone moiety and their solicitation in dyeing polyester fabrics representing their antibacterial evaluation. Design/methodology/approach: Herein, the authors report the synthesis of new thiazolidinone moiety after the coupling of diazotized 4-aminoacetophenone with resorcinol. The newly synthesized dyes were characterized by IR, elemental analysis, mass spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectral studies. The characteristics of dyeing of these dyestuffs were evaluated at optimum conditions. Concurrent with dyeing of polyester fabric for synthesized dyes with their antibacterial activity was estimated. Antimicrobial activity of the dyed fabrics at different concentrations was evaluated against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Findings: Synthesized azobenzene dyestuffs clubbed with thiazolidinone dyes were applied on polyester fabrics. It was remarked that the modified dyes exhibited better colourfastness properties. Furthermore, the synthesized dyes revealed antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Research limitations/implications: The synthesized azobenzene dyes for polyester dyeing were not bore earlier. Practical implications: The azobenzene dyes were accountable for giving improved colourfastness properties on polyester fabrics. Social implications: The synthesized azobenzene derivatives are sensibly expensive and applicable dyes accompanied with good antimicrobial and anticancer activities. Originality/value: A common process could be affording textiles of colour and antibacterial assets. The newly synthesized dyes containing thiazolidinone moieties with azobenzene coupler showed interesting disperse colourant for polyester with good antibacterial activity.

Facile new industrial process for synthesis of teneligliptin through new intermediates and its optimization with control of impurities

Abstract: The present study is related to a commercially practicable new synthetic process for production of teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate (1), a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. Key strategies in the new process include preparation and isolation of new intermediates such as a better reactive nosyl derivative (3c) of l-proline methyl ester (2), its stereoselective substituted intermediate (5) with 1-(3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)piperazine (4) through SN2-type nucleophilic substitution, and isolation of carboxylic acid derivative 6 by deesterification of intermediate 5. The reaction conditions for preparation of new intermediates, and the additionally used coupling reaction for amidation and deprotection of N-Boc were optimized with control of impurities to improve the quality of drug molecule 1 with good yield. The developed synthetic strategy offers significant advantages over existing synthetic approaches, avoiding use of expensive reagents, long time consumption, and laborious procedures involving isolation of intermediates. The developed process for drug molecule 1, achieving overall yield of 37?39% over six sequential chemical transformations, enables rapid delivery of multi-kilogram quantities of the desired active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), meeting stringent purity requirements. Structural activity analysis, spectroscopic investigation, biological and chemical properties interpretation on Beta Carboline using quantum computational methods

In this methodological work, the structural activity analysis have been carried out on beta-Carboline to study the anti cancer activity and the way of improving the biological activity. The molecular spectroscopic tools were used to evaluate all the experimental data like spectral results and data were validated by the computational, HyperChem and Osiris tools. The structural, biological and physico-chemical related analyses have been performed to interpret the properties. The GPCR ligand calculated to be 0.11 for generating pharmacokinetic process, Specified drug information for the compound, was congregated from all types of structural activity which was drawn by spectral and HyperChem data. The sigma and pi interaction band gap (6.18 eV) ensured the drug consistency. The Mulliken charge process distribution was mapped, the charge orientation assignment was checked; the acquired negative charge potential consignment for the cause of antibiotic impact was verified. The molecular orbital interaction study was carried out to identify the origination of degeneracy of interaction causing drug mechanism. The development of new antimalarial compounds remains a pivotal part of the strategy for malaria elimination.
